Time to vent:

Comparing sex segregation & race "segregation" is such an idiotic, tone deaf false equivoc. fallacy.

"Segregation" is a term that sanitizes the terrorism Afro Americans endured w/ Jim Crow. In reality, JC was Apartheid*.

Having women-only spaces isn't apartheid,
& using jargon so carelessly contributes to the ongoing trivialization of the oppression Black ppl have faced under US white supremacy.

It not only shows a lack of empathy for the Black plight, but also reveals entitlement, both of which are symptomatic of white supremacy.
I also despise the sexist undertones to this analogy.

Fallaciously using the term "sex segregation" in the same sense as racial segregation implies that women are a dominant group, & have the power to systematically oppress men by means of exclusion.
This is not just ahistorical, but also an insidious reversal of the violence, suppression & deprivation of basic rights men have subjected women to all of modern history.

It's bc of men why women cling so tightly to segregated spaces in the 1st place.
It's also worth noting that women having access to all the same facilities as men is a fairly recent development in history.

Prior to that, women *were* systemically excluded from a large part of public life.
Yet they don't even reserve their loaded analogy to describe this phenomenon, but instead reserve it solely for condemning women who want to enjoy intimate spaces free of men.
Women weren't the victims then when men excluded us & treated us as 2nd class citizens, but men surely are the victims now when our exclusion of them doesn't compromise their quality of life in any way.
It reeks of racism & contempt for women.

I'll never be ok w/ this trend among the Wannabe Woke of treating anti-black racism as tools to propel their weak arguments or justify misogyny.

Critical thinking & empathy is dying, which has turned me away from lib spaces as a leftist.
