1. Children of Virtue and Vengeance is a brilliant sequel to Children of Blood and Bone. The audiobook performed by @TheRealBahniT is a masterpiece performance. Imo, Tomi Adeyemi is must read material. https://twitter.com/grantruby/status/1205911709233238016
2. The Watchmen. First time reading Alan Moore’s iconic graphic novel. I finally read it so I could better understand the @HBO series. It is a really well written political commentary that is still relevant today. #NothingEverEnds #TheWatchmen
3. Listening to Bryan Stevenson read Just Mercy has me really wanting to see the movie based on this book. Wonderfully performed by the author himself. #libby @meetlibby
4. Another beautiful, heartbreaking story from @JasonReynolds83. I love that the audiobook is read by the author; hearing him read his story added a layer of authenticity to the production.
5. I am all about @JasonReynolds83 right now. His remix of @DrIbram’s Stamped From the Beginning is informative and entertaining. I highly recommend the audiobook, also performed by Jason.
6. Batman: The Long Halloween is awesome. This is cited by Christopher Nolan as influential on his Dark Knight trilogy (it’s obvious in the artwork). All the Batman staples appear: Joker, Scarecrow, Catwoman, Riddler, and more. It’s a page turner, suspenseful and entertaining.
7. The Testaments is a fitting sequel to the Handmaid’s Tale. I enjoyed the way the audiobook is performed by different people for the different characters. If you liked HT, you’ll enjoy this update on Gilead.
8. @BreneBrown’s Daring Greatly has impacted my personal outlook on life. It’s a wonderfully empowering book (I recommend listening to Brown read it herself). I need to buy a hard copy so I can revisit the parts I loved most.
9. I enjoy a lot of King’s writing, but I didn’t enjoy this. They can’t all be amazing 🤷🏻‍♂️
10. Dark Phoenix Saga was recommended and it did not disappoint. This was a real roller coaster of a story, well laid out. It was a fun read.
11. I finished All Boys Aren’t Blue by @IamGMJohnson the other day. What a beautiful memoir. I look forward to giving copies of this to my queer students. Thank you for sharing your story, George/Matthew.
