here’s a little bit of information on why navalny is a terrible man and absolutely should not ever be elected president
so aleksei navalny is a russian internet personality/politician and putin’s primary opposition, hes pretty popular in russia and in the west. lots of young people like him for his Dark Humour aka because hes edgy
the focus point of his presidential campaign was fighting corruption and being anti-putin, and thats what gained him A LOT of popularity in the west, which is all well and good except that hes a self-declared nationalist and a super racist
he has been a co-organizer of the russian march for years, which is basically a rally of russian nationalists and neo-nazis. heres an image from the march that really speaks for itself
he linked his party, the people (народ), to two other russian nationalist parties in 2008 (movement against illegal immigration/MAII and great russia) and freely appears alongside known ultra-nationalists. his party is officially aligned with “democratic nationalism”.
he was ejected from the party yabloko in 2007 for his “nationalist activities” and generally refuses to denounce the rise of russian nationalism. (ie not condemning race riots calling for the eviction of chechens)
a woman who worked with him at yabloko said he frequently used racist slurs and judged the people around him by their ethnicity, and said that she considers him to be “the most dangerous man in russia”.
he made the slogan “russia for the russians” popular, which is used most frequently when people demonstrate against immigration from central asia and the growing number of migrants from the caucasus. his party also supports “rights for ethnic russians”
he has repeatedly called for the deportation of illegal immigrants and imposing stricter visa regulations on citizens of central asian countries.
he endorses a nationalist campaign called “stop feeding the caucasus”, that calls for the cutoff of funding to the republics of the north caucasus, as they are believed to be a drain on russia and a waste of money. he has spoken at their rallies.
during the russo-georgian war in 2008 he called georgians “rodents” and said that he “very much wanted to strike the georgian general staff with a cruise missile”. he later said he regretted the rodents comment, but stood by the rest.
he also called for the eviction of georgian nationals from russia during this time.
one of the worst ones for me personally: on his youtube channel he uploaded a clip entitled “the people for legalization of weapons” («народ за легализацию оружия»)
in the clip, he says that when you have an infestation of bugs/cockroaches, you k!ll them with a shoe or swatter. he then displays an image of men from the caucasus and says, but what to do when the pest is too big to exterminate this way?
a person dressed up as a chechen militant then storms into the recording room, and navalny pretends to k!ll him. he then says “in this case, i recommend a pistol”. here is the video
think about that for a second: russia’s leading opposition and most popular presidential candidate among youth and liberals recommends exterminating people from the caucasus by shoot!ng them, in a video advocating for the legalization of firearms.
