I was reading an article about Wotanjugend (a Ukrainian neo-Nazi org affiliated with the Azov Battalion) and a link took me to a FB post from a neo-Nazi black metal site talking about AB's PR person hanging out with the Goatmoon dickhead at a white supremacist conference.
Hmmm, it's almost as if these black metal guys aren't just using Nazi imagery and propaganda for shock value, but they actually believe it and are invested in recruiting people.
Do you r e a l l y think it's a a coincidence that members of Atomwaffen Division showed up at a Horna show this year when Horna's vocalist was a member of Peste Noire?
White supremacists have been using music subcultures to recruit people and network for decades. You used to be able to go on neo-Nazi message boards and see people openly talking about flyering at Pantera shows.
William Luther Pierce was using Resistance Records to introduce white supremacists to black metal in the 90s. This shit is not new and it's not a gag to shock people.
Anyway, the next time someone tells you the Goatmoon guy, Mikko Aspa, La Sale Famine or whoever are just trying to be provocative or shocking just know that that person either doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about or they're being deliberately dishonest.
Also, here's a series of articles about the Finnish national socialist music scene that has A LOT of overlap with the Finnish black metal scene. https://varisverkosto.com/?s=influencers+of+finnish+ns&submit=Go
All this is to say that the link between organized white supremacy/nationalist groups and black metal are well-documented. So, once again, if someone is downplaying the presence of this shit in black metal then they're either intentionally lying or they're totally uninformed.
