Important (Tuks Twitter mainly)

This is mostly for first years. Academic exclusions are usually put on the up portal during this period. Please go check especially if you failed or deregistered a lot of modules. Try to appeal as soon as possible and get your supporting docs.
Appeal as soon as possible. Please do not wait until close to the closing date of appeals to actually do it because you're going to end up failing to submit a coherent appeal. Remember an appeals committee looks at what you submitted, you need to convince them you're serious.
Try not to have one sentence when asked on what corrective action you're going to take and also when asked what made you not do well. Try to be as elaborate as possible. You can even make it in the form of a letter and attach it as a supporting doc if there's no space.
Try to show that you're really willing to come back. I know most are definitely willing to come back but they do not put enough effort into their appeal or do not take the appeal process serious enough until their appeal gets rejected.
Also show that you understand why you did not do well. If things like death in the family or friends, sickness including mental illness (depression, anxiety etc), crime (mugging, gbv, rape etc) affected your performance, please include these in your appeal.
Also it's very important that you also include the supporting documents. You cannot just say xyz happened and you do not present any supporting documents.

This is why it is also very important for students to open cases at the police even for something as small as usual mugging
So your supporting documents could include copies of police report, accident reports, death certificate, sick notes, etc. Build a very strong case and appeal.
In closing, strength to all of you who have been academically excluded. I know it's definitely not an easy time and there's a lot of uncertainty on what will happen. I wish you all the best. There are people who have been excluded, came back and graduated. You can do it also.
