There is a possibility Jeremy Corbyn will be Prime Minister of the UK by the end of next week. There is no better time to highlight how, no matter what Corbyn does or whatever position he takes, his critics will attack him - even if they totally contradict themselves (thread).

Two days until the election. Worth remembering 'Traingate' from 2016 Labour leadership campaign. Wall-to-wall, prolonged media coverage condemning Corbyn after images from Richard Branson's Virgin Trains.
One year (!) later, new footage vindicated Corbyn.
Richard Branson overruled his own CCTV policy & advice from his public affairs team to proceed with deliberately misleading images. The reputation damage to Corbyn, facilitated by the media, was for many potential voters - irreversible. It took over one year for truth to emerge.
'Traingate' is still used as an effective attack line on Corbyn - whose reputation, integrity and intelligence suffered a sustained, co-ordinated attack. It was a total and complete fabrication.

Mass, deliberate information didn't start this week. It's happened for years.
Last month, the London Evening Standard (edited by George Osborne) published an interview with Corbyn. It included a 74-word segment, with full quotations and mannerisms, which were a total fabrication.

They edited their online copy, but it made the mag.
