if you’re drawing dark skin, it’s helpful to remember that you don’t just take pale skin and add pure black. we have blood lol, doing that makes the character look either dead or in desperate need of moisturizer. try starting with orange + playing with h/s/v til it looks right
also: even under bright lighting you can still tell that a dark skinned person has dark skin. we don’t look caucasian in bright lighting - try using flash photos as reference. here’s some unedited photos of my skin under different lighting, i still look brown in all of them
