Mamamoo’s apology and why it’s the best i’ve ever seen: a thread
first they directly apologized and said there is no excuse for their actions. they identified that they offended their international fans and did not play off our feelings about the situation
how many groups in the kpop industry would include this line? with race they also said sexuality, religion, and gender which is amazing,, AND they directly apologized to the black community which is exactly what i am looking for in an apology
they explain their ignorance but do not use that as an excuse. they also identified once again that what they did was wrong
an apology without the intention to change your actions is manipulation but here mamamoo says that they will take the steps to ensure that something like this never happens again
finally instead of making their fans feel guilty for calling them out, they express their gratitude to us and also end with saying for a final time that what they did was wrong
to end this thread i want to say that mamamoo indentified that what they did was wrong 3 times, apologized directly to the black community, and got educated by professionals afterwards which shows you that they followed through with their promise that this never happens again
as a black person i accepted this apology because i saw the genuine regret and ignorance that they had for their actions whether you chose to accept it or not is a personal decision but you can not go out saying that this is a insincere apology when it is not
this is also 1/4 apologies not including the one they did at a concert
