WHY THE DEVAS AND ĀSURAS BATTLE ARE NOT ABOUT GOOD VS EVIL?

THE DEVA-ĀSURA GOOD VS EVIL PARADIGM IS AN ABRAHAMIC GOD-SATAN IDIOTIC NOTION

PURĀNAS ARE FAR MORE COMPLEX, BEAUTIFUL, NON DUALISTIC

THE ABRAHAMIC LENS CORRUPTS THE ENTIRE INTERPRETATION

Vedic thought explains the complexity of the universe and it sees the simultaneous unity AND diversity in things.

Foolish minds are blind to the grey and only see the grey. Even more foolish are those who think everything is grey. Wise see the black, white and the grey.
To see simultaneously the black, white and the grey is to be able to see simultaneously the unity and diversity in things. This is what Vedic thought is about.

For instance those who see ONLY black and white are the kind of people who think all murderers are bad and such
people will not be able to see how murdering a terrorist is actually a good thing. This insanity of obsessing of clear black - white is a very desert cult thing. Christians believe that ALL abortion is bad. But when Savita in Ireland died because of miscarriage the doctor could
have saved her by aborting the dead child but he let her die because abortion is banned in Ireland. So even in a case where abortion is extremely necessary due to medical condition denying that and letting the woman die is a case wherein people are not able to see the grey.
There also another variety of idiots who think that everything is grey. These are the kinds of people who will fight for the human rights of a terrorist who has killed hundreds of people just because they think ALL CAPITAL PUNISHMENT IS BAD. 😒

Such people are anti humanity.
So by this point one knows that logically, rationally and ethically with the correct use of intelligence one can decide what is black, white and grey. This is basically what Vedic culture teaches. To have the 'Viveka' (intelligence to discriminate and understand) what is right.
Now coming to Devas & Āsuras one has to understand that this isn't a good-evil trope as is commonly misrepresented.

In fact ask any Guru what they think of Bhakt Prahhlada and Bali Maharaja. Weren't both of them Āsuras? And Daksha was part of Team Deva but what happened to him?
The word Āsura is different from the commonly used incorrect word Asura. The correct word is Āsura. Sura means one who is very strong. Āsura means one who is very strong. Thus technically speaking the Āsuras were stronger than the Devas.

If you read about it there are some
battles that the Devtas win and sometimes the Āsuras overpower them too but the ultimate victory is only of the Devtas.

The ONLY reason why Devtas ALWAYS win ultimately is because they ALWAYS go and seek Vishnu's help. But then isn't it unfair that Vishnu only helps the Devtas
and leaves behind the Āsuras? Well if that were the case then why would Lord Narsimha come and rescue Prahlada or give boons to Bali that He will be the next Indra and that till then Bali Maharaja will be guarded by Lord Vishnu Himself. It's quite simple. Lord Vishnu is very fair
and He helps those who ask Him for help and DEPEND on Him. To patiently depend on Vishnu is a form of surrendering to Him. When the Devtas approach Him, they still have to wait till Lord Vishnu agress but throughout that period of hardship and oppression that the Devtas go
through they patiently wait and trust Him. The Āsuras are for the most part arrogant and think they are too strong to need anyone and thus never approach Lord Vishnu but whenever they do like in the case of Prahalad & Bali, the Bhakta Vatsala Lord Vishnu infallibly helps them. In
the Gitā also Krsna says "I am the devotee of my devotees." 🙏

Another important point is that there is no good-evil angle here because sometimes even the Devtas do things which are not right. If one reads about Indra one may actually dislike his character a lot. Remember he
even gets cursed for luring Ahilya and as per the curse his body gets covered by thousand vaginas. He then repents, performs penances and tries to please Goddess Lakshmi who says that she cannot/will not undo the curse of a Rishi and thus only provides a blessing for modification
that converts his thousand vaginas to eyes. Lord Vishnu is also aware of Indra's defects and thus Indra pays for all his misbehavior. Indra had misbehaved with Dadhichi and then when he goes to Lord Vishnu for help He tells Indra to go meekly asking for Dadhichi to help him. This
thus reduces in pride. A very important lesson is to be learnt here. If I have a great parent or Guru on whom I depend and who teaches me morality that doesn't mean that I will definitely become perfect BUT that when I stray from the path of perfection the parent/Guru will always
be there to reprimand and correct me. This is the advantage that Devas have. Because they seek the shelter of Lord Vishnu they're always corrected by Lord Vishnu. Instead if a rebellious child abandons his parents and categorically states that any interference from the parent is
a violation of the child's free will then the parents can't intervene. God also allows us free will. Vedic culture doesn't believe in a tyrannical loving God. If we rebel and ask God to not interfere with our free will then He will wait till we come back to senses and seek his
love. Love cannot be forced or imposed AND love cannot exist where there is no free will. Thus the Āsuras are like the rebellious children with the exception of great devotees such as Prahlada Maharaj.

Once we start seeing the entire Purānic literature with this view point a
lot of clarity emerges and we understand the true essence of things. Lot of my insights were based on what I learnt from the following series of videos. Make sure to watch if you have deeper interest. Hare Krsna🙏

*EDIT*
Spelling mistake in one tweet. Clarifying here.

Adding Ā before a word in Sanskrit means "even more so" thus if Sura is strong thus Āsura means "even more strong". As explained by Vic DiCara.
For the curious ones exact explanation and details on the word definition given here at 5:21 in the video.
