#OnThisDay in 2004, India came out victorious by 13 runs (which seemed like 130 runs on this pitch) in an engaging see-saw battle on a Wankhede wicket, where the SG ball swung, bounced, turned & gripped.

This Test had a lot of twists and turns on its way, too.

Australia finally conquered Steve Waugh's "Final Frontier" dream by winning the tests in Bengaluru & Nagpur, with a last day washout in Chennai.

The teams met for the last time in the series at the Wankhede Stadium, with Aus wanting a 3-0 scoreline & India playing for pride 👍🏻
The match was delayed by almost a couple of sessions due to unseasonal rainfall with a drizzle and damp pitch conditions.

There was a tinge of grass on the wicket to start with. Surprisingly, Dravid decided to leave out Nehra to add a 3rd spinner, with debutant Kartik coming in
India won the toss & Dravid decided to give his batsman a first go against McGrath & co. @virendersehwag along with another debutant @GautamGambhir came out to bat.

Pigeon & Dizzy took a wicket each to leave India reeling at 22/2, at the end of Day 1.

Early signs of Deja Vu?
Dravid batted 3 hours on that wicket to score an unbeaten 31* out of the team's score of 104.

Gillespie, the star of the series, took 4 wickets, with debutant Hauritz taking 3 wickets

Aus started well to reach 101/3 and looked set for a big lead, when Indian spinners intervened
The WANKHEDE CROWD suddenly found their voices & came alive!!!!

Kumble & Kartik shared 9 wickets to bundle out Australia for 203. Martyn played beautifully for his brilliant knock of 55. A first innings lead of 99 runs on this wicket was pure GOLD. ( @MClarke23 knew it⬇️)
India started their 2nd innings similar to 1st, reeling at 14/2.

Like Kolkata 2001, Very Very Special @VVSLaxman281 was promoted to no. 3. Positive signs!!!

He joined @sachin_rt in the middle and they played one of the most counter attacking plays ever.
VVS scored 69 & Sachin scored 55 in a vital game changing partnership worth 91 precious runs.

Dravid & Kaif chipped in with useful 20s too, before @MClarke23 decided to have some fun with the ball too, in this series. Came up with magical figures of 6.2-0-9-6 to end the innings.
Target for Australia: 107

Test Cricket loves such 4th innings targets and that's why we crave for such beauties in Test Cricket too♥️

@ImZaheer bowled a real beauty to get Langer out caught behind 2nd ball & the Wankhede crowd erupted, expecting something very special to follow
Once @HaydosTweets was dismissed, unable to control his love for sweep shots, the Indian spinners caused panic in the Aus dressing room with teasing lines, creating wicket opportunities.

Indian spinners shared 9 wickets, being part of a memorable Test Match win at our Wankhede♥️
Here's the highlights of the wonderful gripping test.
