"Trump is a libertarian"

Me: hold my whiskey, thread to follow. https://t.co/Jv2t4pmUWj
Let's start with the LP platform regarding the death penalty. We oppose the state administration of it, in it's entirety.
And while we are at it, let's talk about the platform plank regarding the 2nd amendment.

Compare to this WHITE HOUSE BRIEFING.
And bump stock bans.

Which you may think "isnt a big deal" but libertarians oppose ANY and ALL restrictions on firearms ownership. ANY. AND. ALL.
Moving on!

Trump refused to veto FISA, even after it was used against him as he pointed out during the Mueller investigation. He could have just...not re signed it. Knowing it's a Constitutional violation. But NOPE.

We still have the Patriot Act too btw.
Read these carefully. Then read the next tweet.
I think this one is self explanatory but we haven't ended any wars lately, just moved troops around a little bit. They're still deployed to the Middle East and elsewhere across the globe.
FISA, Pstriot Act part deux!
Isn't the current dog and pony show all about Ukrainian aid being withheld?

Which means we are still writing checks.

No go.
This one is super obvious too, he literally ran on "BUILD THE WALL AND MAKE MEXICO PAY FOR IT!"
Both parties are guilty of gerrymandering. They refuse to stop, and actively work to keep 3rd parties off their ballots.

Not very "free and fair" of them. Trump supports gerrymandering and has stated he wanted to use "citizenship data" in redistricting.
Personally, Trump never met a contract he couldn't buy his way out of. He is only in favor of enforcing contracts when they benefit him.

Mixed reviews.
4.1 Trillion in debt AND a suspended debt ceiling which means Congress can spend without penalty.
Considering Trump's bread and butter is criticizing and bullying everyone who doesn't agree with him, he did protect free speech on college campuses.

However, he does not support free speech when someone speaks out against him, often calling for their removal from their job.
Donald Trump has expanded civil asset forfeiture which only emboldens law enforcement to steal with impunity.
He and Sessions were very proud of this very not libertarian directive.
Of the 30 planks that make up the LP platform, DJT disagrees with or conditionally agrees (meaning he agrees only when it favors his desired outcome) with about 85% of them.

He's no libertarian. He is an authoritarian.
