To celebrate 14 years of Club Penguin, here's a mega thread on why this account exists, and why it's important for games like Club Penguin to be represented in Smash Bros! #ClubPenguinForSmash #CP14Years
PART I. A brief history of Flash games
While the internet was made publicly available in 1991, it wasn't until the early 2000s that web browser-based games exploded into popularity. This is mainly because what we know now as Flash was first released in 1996.

In the advent of Flash's success came websites like Miniclip and Newgrounds, sites that are dedicated to hosting Flash games/media. In 2005, a Flash-based MMO called Club Penguin was released to the world.
PART II. Why should I care about Flash games?
Here's the thing -- consoles are expensive! But little Jimmy from across the street still wants to play video games. It's more commonplace for households to have computers than to have video game consoles because of their utility.

But what does little Jimmy do when his parents won't buy him video games? He plays free Flash games on his browser, of course! Flash games were EXTREMELY accessible. Sure, it's not the newest Smash Bros, but they fulfilled the same purpose for kids -- hours of fun.
PART III. Why Club Penguin?
The truth is, it doesn't have to be. However, Club Penguin is easily one of the most recognizable Flash-based video game franchises, spawning countless memes, and still having an active community today, keeping what's left of Club Penguin alive!

Club Penguin is also no stranger to Nintendo, having spin-off titles on their handheld and home consoles! (And technically speaking, Club Penguin is a Nintendo exclusive IP now, since it's the only legitimate way to play the franchise lol)
PART IV. How would Club Penguin be represented in Smash?
Of course, the ideal is having a playable character with alt skins of the famous Club Penguin mascots with Rookie as the default skin! But realistically speaking, I don't see it happening. I'd settle for a Spirit, frankly.

PART V. Closing remarks
Beyond anything else, Club Penguin is a personal pick for me. Flash games were a huge part of my childhood, and I think it deserves to be recognized as an important part of video game history as well. What better way to do that that than in Smash Bros?

Does Club Penguin deserve to be in Smash? That's subjective. I can make the same case for a bunch of characters already in the roster. But above all else, the world needs to know that #FlashGamesMatter. Thanks for reading this longass thread! Moveset thread soon.
