Also, I don’t know who needs to hear this but let’s clear this up right here right now: BOTOX AND FILLER ARE NOT THE SAME THING.
But first, what are your preconceived notions about cosmetic injections?
Before I start, I have to get something off my chest that’s truly been tearing me up inside. @rihanna
The purpose of this thread is to explain the difference between Botox and filler, go over some of the top brands, common prices, things to look out for and to just generally help guide you in deciding if either would be a good choice for you
Botulinum toxin type A is an injectable neurotoxin. It’s made from a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. I’m gonna be upfront cause why tip toe around or try to insult your intelligence— yes, it’s true that Botulinum is a form of poison BUT the dosage that is
used during a treatment is not and will never be high enough to harm you or your body. Treatments also don’t spread more then 2-3 centimeters once injected into your skin. It’s VERY LOCALIZED and when done by a skilled professional it is extremely safe.
This procedure works by having the neurotoxins attach itself to nerve endings. Once this happens, the neurotransmitter responsible for triggering muscle contractions, called acetylcholine, can’t be released.
Simply put, This procedure works by blocking the nerves in your body so that the muscles can’t contract. A lot of people see this as Freezing but Botox doesn’t freeze, it temporarily relaxes the muscle.
Botox is a desirable service for those who want to SMOOTH OUT expression lines in their face and forehead. That’s anything from your elevens, bunny ears, crows feet, to the lines in your forehead
Although it’s seen as a cosmetic surgery to the public it absolutely isn’t. This is one of the quickest procedures you’ll ever have done. NO surgery is required no downtime and again if done right no one will be able to tell you’ve had work done.
If you come across a tight face individual it is more then likely that he or she has had Way to much of the neurotoxin injected into their face. This causes that crazy stiff look and feel.
Aside from smoothing, Botox has been used by cosmetic surgeons and other licensed professionals for treatments that :

Ect...
**Botox DOES NOT go into your lips or your cheeks.
If you’re interested in getting the treatment done you’ll become familiar with one - all of these brands below:
BOTOX® Cosmetic
XEOMIN®
Dysport®
Jeuveau®

The difference between the brands have everything to do with purity. formulation, and what area of your face you are looking to treat. You’ll want to know which brand the med spa you’re going to uses because different dosage amounts will be specific to each.
Let’s hit some quick facts for each:

Do you understand the concept of Botox a little more now after reading this thread?
Next up Filler

Neurotoxins temporarily relax
FILLER PLUMPS
FILLER PLUMPS

Remember Neurotoxins (or Botox) works by having the neurotoxins attach itself to nerve endings. Once this happens, the neurotransmitter responsible for triggering muscle contractions, called acetylcholine, can’t be released.
Filler on the other hand, is a gel like substance that is injected beneath the skin to RESTORE LOST VOLUME, smooth lines, and soften creases, or enhance facial contours. The most common form of filler is hyaluronic acid — but it’s always going to be a synthetic version.
Again, note earlier that I mentioned that Botox does NOT go into your lips or your cheeks. Filler on the other hand does/can.
Filler is a desirable service for those who want to restore loss volume by adding plumpness to their cheeks and/ or lip area.
As I mentioned, Most of the time your area of choice is being injected with hyaluronic acid however that might not always be the case.
Some fillers are made with :
Calcium hydroxylapatite, which is a mineral-like compound found in bones.
Hyaluronic acid, which is found in some fluids and tissues in the body that add plumpness to the skin.
Polyalkylimide, a transparent gel that is compatible with the body.

Polylactic acid, which stimulates the skin to make more collagen.
Polymethyl-methacrylate microspheres (PMMA), a semi-permanent filler.

“There’s a semi permanent filler?!? I thought you said filler was temporary??”
Yes, there are some “permanent fillers” that work by creating a consistent plumping effect over time. This filler completely dissolves and starts to stimulate collagen production

Please do NOT fall for too good to be true offers. When looking for an a place to get treatment remember that the saying “too good to be true” is accurate — you’re injections can be expensive, doctors and spas typically spend
$200-$300 per surenge on each
$200-$300 per surenge on each
Neurotoxin/ derma filler. Getting your injections done for $80-$100 is a good way to know that you’re in the presence of a scammer who is probably injecting something harmful in your body that cause you to lose limbs and die.
Please also keep in mind:
NOT ALL DOCTORS ARE ABLE TO GIVE YOU INJECTIONS. YOU SHOULD ONLY BE GETTING INJECTIONS FROM A MED SPA WITH A GREAT REPUTATION, STATE BOARD CERTIFIED COSMETIC SURGEONS, or TRAINED NURSES (because nurses don’t just come trained just like doctors don’t.)
