off the cuff overthinking bc I see Yuki A3! has an English profile now:

I feel like part of my personal discomfort with a lot of trans* headcanon stuff is the underlying thinking that there's some sort of "tell" to whether a character is trans* or not
"oh the boy is short? MUST BE TRANS!"

"oh they're non-conforming (read: wears skirts/dresses fem)? MUST BE TRANS!"
so so many transwomen who struggle between "doesn't dress lipstick fem enough to be 'valid'" and the stupid "theyre so fem they reinforce stereotypes"

transmen are invalidated in the real world if they don't play "I HATE PINK AND ONLY WEAR GUN METAL AND HAVE A BEARD"
never mind the trappings of so strictly gendering skirts....

idk i'm just!!!!! a lot of thinking/assuming feels weirdly binary and ALSO so weirdly opposed to the struggles of trans* folks in the real world!
and as always this isn't to say trans* folks who find these headcanons comforting are /wrong/, and doubly so if they like they because they're exploring their own lives
AT THE SAME TIME I still feel weirdly in the minority of trans* folks who openly talk about their own discomforts with the "you have to agree/be comfortable with this" angle of this part of fandom
and I think i talk a lot about it just because I felt like I must be secretly self-loathing because I felt MORE alienated by these behaviors instead of more affirmed and seen
also I think more gendered-presenting-but-non-binary-identifying takes would be rad
