Climate change denial is so weird. I'm going to finish my undergrad in IT soon, and I still feel like I don't know much about IT. I always think about what if climate change denial was a problem but in the IT world.
Like imagine there was a global malware problem , and instead of listening to techs, developers, security etc. People instead got their information from in-denial journalists who barely even know the keyboard shortcuts for copy/paste.
Smarmy TV personalities telling us that because we haven't spread the malware as much as China, we should just keep spreading the malware, because our impact is minimal.
Shock jocks who think that they've stumbled upon some kind of forbidden knowledge telling us that in order for us to get rid of the malware we should just blow up every single computer. Otherwise we're being hypocrites .
"computers have been slowing down and sharing my private data since the 70s, this is just part of a natural cycle".
Teenagers trying to tell their dumb arse parents to do something about it. Parents like "1. You should be in school, 2. You're just a teenager what would you know"
People who are saying Y2k, Millenium bug etc.....actually a perfect case study of governments and businesses paying attention TO EXPERTS and planning and preparing for an issue. It was so successful that idiots on the internet now think it was a hoax or not an issue at all.
