Thread: Life in the simulation and how you can break free.

"Wait, what?!?! Are you off your fucking meds?" That's neither here nor there. The reality is that if you are a moderate to heavy social media user, you are living in a simulation. 1/?
You wake up, grab your phone and head over to your instatwitbook account and just like that you've delved into your simulated world, playing the character you've created. While it's not as sci-fi as the Matrixesque images you've created in your mind 2/?
it is nonetheless an artificially created existence. You go from a groggy dream state to an immediate overtaxing endorphin rush. Diving headlong back into the likes, comments, and discussions/arguments from the last time you "checked in" to what has become your reality 3/?
You have a hard time pulling yourself away to perform the now less important "real world" tasks that were once your sole focus. You multitask your children, spouse, pets, jobs, etc. as that little hammer is constantly pounding the back of your brain that you're missing out 4/?
on the next big thing in your newly created existence. The time and effort that was once dedicated to creating real world relationships and self worth is but a distant memory as you slap the like button 10 more times and check your notifications for validation 5?/
that what you had to say was "funny, transcendent, eyeopening, infuriating" or a combination of any emotion you were attempting to incite as your real world around you crumbles, your virtual bro's/enemy's lift you higher. And just like that you are one with the machine 6/?
Now you may feel like a big fish, which fills you with a sense of pride and accomplishment, but regardless of how many followers you have and how much adulation is poured upon you, you're but a microorganism in the grand scheme. Cancel culture, outrage culture, 7/?
and all the fucking ism's. You are now a part of those regardless of what side of the fence you fall. Insta models, Facebook moms, the twit nitwits. You are a cog in their attention wheel regardless of what side of the fence you lie. 8/?
You are but a spec of pollen on worker bee in the colony of the true puppet masters. Those really pulling the strings are now your masters. The power of the real players has never been greater as society has never been more susceptible or as accessible to the message 9/?
which they wish to spread and your attention and loyalty has never been easier to win. Obama is bombing Syria, let's worry about Ebola for a month. A serial rapist dies while under supervision in prison, let's impeach Trump. World leaders fly their private jets to Italy 10/?
let's parade out a little girl with learning disabilities to tell us all how terrible we are as humans. You are being preyed on with the unstated goal of taking this disinformation and spreading it to those who are not plugged in, and you know what, it's starting to work 11/?
While big money and government didn't create these mediums, once an established base was in place they have bulldozed in to own you and your thoughts. It started with the radio, then transitioned to t.v., and now to social media as each method has built another layer 12/?
upon the preceding layer to further their agenda. This is the true cancer which threatens to exterminate our society, not the Johnny come Lately hole in the ozone, we're running out of oil, the sea is rising and we'll be dead in six months if we don't raze every building 13/?
and use more nonrenewable resources to build new buildings in place of the perfectly good buildings we just destroyed mantra. At the end of the day I ask you to look inside yourself and around at the real world. 14/?
Everything isn't mai tai's and picturesque sunsets on white sandy beaches, but the world is not falling apart and liberals and conservatives can get along. We have more things that unite us than divide us, however our we need to refocus our gaze and retake control 15/?
of the messages that are playing out in our thoughts, words, and actions. For many social media has become as damaging an addiction as any illicit substance. If you find yourself struggling to take a break, I hate to be the one to break it to you buy you have a real problem 16/?
Every day we look around and ask, "What is wrong with society?" and the answer is us. We're the problem. We have given up our most valuable resource, freedom of thought, in place of our desire to be fit in and it's destroying us. 17/?
Take time out to cleanse, treat others and yourself with love and respect, enjoy the time you have been gifted above ground, reconnect with nature and your neighbor and you'll be surprised how well you'll sleep at night and how good you feel the next morning. 18/?
As someone who has struggled through multiple addictions I can tell you it will be hard, you will feel like shit as your brain readjusts, you will want to give in and you will, then you will have to start all over but it will be worth it. Much love! Signed The man in the machine.
