Someone recently pointed out how I seem to know the most random of facts, theories and stories.

I am a low-key Pantomath. Sheldon Cooper is a full on Pantomath. Let me tell you the long story of how I became that way & in the words of Beyonce 'I ain't sorry'

When I was young my dad had an Encyclopedia and a Brittanica collection. I even wrote my name in one of the Brittanica's at age 4 with the 'A's facing backwards but whatever

I've always been an eager beaver, my parents took me to creche when I was 1 yr, 2 months. I was weaned at 10 mnths & could walk & 'talk'ish. I'm not too sure where I was rushing to but I was clearly a lot

In primary school I finished the Sunrise Readers way too fast & started reading novels in grade 2. When I would get picked up from school, I would read/walk trailing behind the caregiver on our way home. Almost got run over once

A random story; the SPCA ran a competition at my school for a short story & piece of artwork when I was in Grade 3 & I went into that project toes and all. After I won first place, I started writing little short stories in an A5 hardcover notebook. I wish I still had that book.

By Grade 4 I was reading books without pictures fam.. I got into trouble with my mum when I had a nightmare after reading 3 Goosebumps novels in one week.
#sigh only black parents will give you a whooping for having a nightmare.
I get it, it was my fault for reading horror

Fast forward to 2002, the first time I used the internet! My first email address was [email protected] and yes the address includes a boy's name

& the year I was born. Fortunately I made a new address-nssvotwa a few months later. This all happened muSpyder Internet Cafe

That term I went back to school with printed lyrics for all the Destiny's Child lyrics from the Survivor album and I also printed a picture of what Bey & Jay's baby would look like because their relationship was taking shape. The internet's been wilding forever

The following year, my father died & I know this may be strange but I kind of lost my enthusiasm for learning. Of all my siblings, I least resemble my father physically. This enthusiasm for books & knowledge was the thing that made me my father's child.

Over the years I've met my father's colleagues & I glow when they tell me how much I remind them of him. I've always looked like my mum; her former work colleague at Barclays Bank almost fainted when I walked in about 12 years ago

The year was 2005 when I was on my long holiday. I took a trip to the local internet cafe in Masvingo. I had to go to town to just Google my guy! As I was reading an article on Yahoo News, I saw a headline in the side bar & the words that caught me were 'pedia' Whaaaaat

I immediately clicked on the link & read about this online site called Wikipedia which was just like having an Encyclopedia but on the internet and updatable so - Better...

I Wikied my 1st ever article that day & man oh man, the feels....

Let's speed up to the late 00s when Broadband came to life & we didn't have to go to cyber cafes anymore to Google or Bing! Thanks to Facebook & WhatsApp, I closed my hi5, ebuddy, mxit & nimbuzz accounts #sigh

At this point can I'll skim over the mobile phone revolution we all know the story but in case you don't, Wiki it

. Now let me tell you how I got back into the swing of reading stuff & how it evolved because of tekonology (not a typo)
I Wiki & Google everything fam

Scenario 1: So I'm watching Big Bang Theory, Bernadette is pregnant, is she pregnant in real life, I wonder. I google Melissa Rauch pregnant, I then Wiki Melissa Rauch because just

then click on link to Big Bang Theory the show, then open a new tab on every cast member & so on.

Then I think

hmmm, the actual big bang theory!!, I Wiki it, then click on Georges Lemaître, then Charles Darwin & before you know it I'm reading about Vikings. On average I will read 20 chain articles before I force myself to put the phone down & sleep or the battery runs out

Scenario 2: I bite into a chocolate bar & think but seriously who figured out how to make something from a tree into such a yummy treat & I Wiki it. Before you know it I'm reading on the invention of Coffee then link to Yemen, the history of it then Sudan & so on & so on.

Do I Google check stuff before engaging in a Twitter discussion- Yes, yes I do.
Do I love the 'look up' feature on my phone & use it to make sure I've used the correct word - totally!
Do I ask Siri to look up how he was designed? Yep
Do I have the Wikipedia app - what do u think

Have I been told off for saying random general knowledge- definitely
Have I been called mean names -

duh
Did it affect me - Sometimes
Have I learnt to shut up though in some cases - YES
Will I change though - NEVER

I like knowing things, now I just keep most of it to myself

& so ladies & gentleman - My father, Britannicas, Goosebump novels, Encyclopedias, SPCA, Cyber Cafes, Opera Mini, Brodband, Yahoo, Google, Smart Phones, Wifi & most of all WIKIPEDIA turned me into this over the top but low-key Pantomath
