Fixed vs. Growth mindset. In sport, in life. A thread:
Fixed mindset people believe that they will succeed on talent alone, John McEnroe had a fixed mindset. For 3 years this was fine & he was top of his game. He treated his family, friends & staff badly but they put up with it
Fixed mindset people believe that they will succeed on talent alone, John McEnroe had a fixed mindset. For 3 years this was fine & he was top of his game. He treated his family, friends & staff badly but they put up with it
Then he started losing matches & with each one he told himself it was due to some form of external factor; he had under trained, he had over trained, he ate too close to the match, it was too hot etc.
Someone with a growth mindset accepts defeat, or that things are hard right now, but learns from it & tries again based on what they have learnt.
The key is that no matter what your ability is, it is effort that ignites your ability and turns it into accomplishment. Effort and determination is what will help you succeed. It is basically resilience.
Look how a 'Fixed' mindset has hampered the likes of:
Nick Kyrgios
Allen Iverson
Ravel Morrison
Adel Tarabbt
David Bentley
Robinho
Dani Osvaldo
...I'm sure you can name more...
...so, try and be more 'Growth'
