A few months after Hitler became Führer, the Nazis wanted power beyond their borders.

On Hitler’s orders, Deputy Führer Rudolf Hess charged German-American immigrant Heinz Spanknobel to form the pro-Nazi movement in the US

The Friends of New Germany was est. Jul ‘33 in the US… https://twitter.com/TrinityResists/status/1091461639248007169
The Friends of New Germany advocated Hitler’s Nationalism, restoration of Aryan race & the fascist Nazi cause.

They attacked the press, stormed newspaper offices, targeted Jewish people & businesses & held swastika laden rallies in black & white uniforms

In an anti-fascist 1930’s functioning US democracy, Spanknobel was quickly deported 3 months later in Oct 1933 for failing to register as a foreign agent.

But the seeds of Naziism & fascism were already planted…

A successive group was formed—the German American Bund.
4/14
Though the Bund was “unofficially” connected to Hitler, they continued the FoNG’s campaigns of anti-Semitism, swastika rallies & violent rhetoric.

But unlike the FoNG, the Bund masqueraded in so-called patriotic, pro-American symbolism & claimed they were the US patriots.
The Bund declared George Washington “the first Fascist”

They claimed those who weren’t Christian were non-Aryan & inferior, were vehemently antisemitic, anti-Democrat & mocked president FDR.

They held parades & swastika rallies shouting “heil Hitler”& ”America First” at rallies
The Nazi Bund held rallies at Madison Madison Square Garden from 1934-1939.

On Feb 20, 1939—20,000 Bund members held their largest “Pro-America Rally.”

Inside, Hitler Nazi supporters filled the aisles while speakers spoke against Dem POTUS “Frank D. Rosenfeld” & his “Jew Deal.”
Outside, 80,000 anti-fascist & anti-Nazi demonstrators protested the event. This protest was seen as radical at the time.

The Bund rapidly declined after this hate rally—due to rising tensions of WWII & in a pre-WWII US, the vast majority of the American people were anti-fascist
Aside from a functioning U.S. democratic republic… Any of this sound familiar?

Trump is the face of far right wing racism, white supremacy/Aryan ideology.

His entire presidency is based on his white Nationalist, racist, xenophobic hate agenda— as is his re-election strategy:
In 1939 Bund’s leader was found guilty of embezzlement & imprisoned. His successor was outed as a spy for German intelligence & fled the US in Nov 1941.

The Bund was facing charges of sedition.

The last leader committed suicide in 1942 after receiving a Fed grand jury subpoena.
Sept 1, 1939— When Hitler started WWII by invading Poland, it was found the Bund encouraged its draft age members to evade conscription.

The Bund was disbanded at the end of 1941 when the US declared war against Nazi Germany.

FoNG & Bund are relegated in history as hate groups
But, planted seeds of right-wing white supremacy ideology and hate never quite go away.

Fascists & Nazis were considered militant, extremist fringe groups & a gross underbelly in the US’ history of deep seeded roots in racism…

…until Donald Trump.
Trump has a long history with racism
Muslims—Banned
Mexicans—Rapists & Criminals
Africa—shithole countries
Haiti—AIDS
Nigeria—live in huts
Immigrants—Infestation & animals
NFL players who kneel—Sons of Bitches
Nazis—very fine people

1973—“You Don’t Want to Live With Them(POC)Either”
1989—“Bring Back the Death Penalty”
1993—“They Don’t Look Like Indians to Me”
2011—“He Doesn’t Have a Birth Certificate—where it says religion it might have Muslim”

We’re in a different century now.

But the stories of 1930s Germany’s fascism, anti-Democrat & Nazis declaring the Aryan race is under attack are still the same—

ALL lead to the same path under a white Nationalist at the helm.
