Hiyoko Saionji

...

I love her that's it. I love her. I love my wife. I love her so much. Don't talk shit on my wife even though she'd talk shit on you and me, plz.
You see, Hiyoko's appearance was made to look cute, since the beginning and when meeting her i wasn't sure of what to expect.

Was she gonna be a cinnamon roll? (She actually is, but i didn't know that yet)

And then she becomes so fuckin' scary so quickly and all i could do +
Was laugh.

I was laughing very much with that abrupt change.

"Hiyoko, i'll keep an eye on you, you're definitely a wild one" i thought to myself. And you can bet i did that.
She wasn't my favorite character, but i paid close attention to everything she said, everytime, it was very interesting and she was pretty funny, specially with how good she is at roasting everyone.
And well, i wanna make that clear, it did annoy me a bit when she was bullying Mikan for no reason at all.

When she was just roasting everyone, i was totally fine, but it did bother me that she picked on Mikan specially, because she's a easy target
And even if Mikan actually liked the attention, and even if she doesn't like being hated, prefers that to being ignored, so she's glad for Hiyoko's attitude...

That's still not a excuse, bullying not cool.

We good? We good. Because i'm just beginning!!!
Hiyoko starts changing around and growing to me when she starts crying because people were saying she smelled bad.

Like- "Oh? She's crying? So she can't take that, huh... Well, seems like she's actually a softie, i guess"
And that's when i first started relating to her. As someone who sometimes can't take a joke, and will get extremely upset when someone insults me sometimes, and depending on how fragile i'm feeling, i'll even cry-

Damn, i felt her so hard
Even if she was mean to everyone, the moment she started crying, i wanted to hug her and say "Hey, it's gonna be fine, don't cry :')"

Mahiru did that for me, so, hey, thanks~

And seeing her smile and feel better about that was really heartwarming and relieving as well
She also starts to really trust and get attached to Mahiru, which is something i never expected!

Hiyoko? Trusting and liking someone? Wow-

And i was genuinely happy for the little gremlin! Like, you go, girl, you made a friend!
And that didn't last.

And you can feel her terror. You can feel how desperate she is for her death. And how angry she is at whoever k*lled Mahiru.

She, that didn't care about anyone, was now suffering for her best friend taken away from her so unfairly.
And while people might've been angry at her for being upset at Fuyuhiko, i was like

"Why wouldn't she?"

Sure, he changed, but she was someone so full of hatred and now she had a reason to actually deeply hate someone
Specially given how she despises k*llers. Remember how she reacted to Teruteru???

She's even dealt with atempts of murder her whole life, and that scars a person. That creates a super anxious kid. And she's that kid.

And then someone goes and k*lls her best friend??? C'mon, man
I felt her rage. I felt her frustration. And then she goes and...

MAKES A MEMORIAL FOR MAHIRU!!

I WAS SO SHOCKED OVER HOW NICE SHE WAS!!

EVEN IF IT LOOKED LIKE A SATANIC ALTAR, SHE STILL DID THAT FOR EVERYONE TO SEE, IN SECRET, LIKE A GIFT FOR EVERYONE AND I LOVED THAT
She cared so much that she took the time to do something like that for her friend, something that other characters have never done anything close to, really.

(And she even goes and makes the Memorial Jam session happen too. She made 2 memorials. Y'all sleeping on her!!!)
When she said she tried her best to make it look good, but she's useless at anything that isn't dancing, i also felt that very much.

Again, Hiyoko, the little brat, was very human and had really relatable struggles, over feeling worthless and feeling like you're a no-good
And more and more, i started caring about her. More than just the character that makes sick burns at that point, but the character that needs help opening up.

The character that needs a chance and some good hugs.

The character that has potential but just needs a little time
And when tragedy struck-

I cried. I cried and cried and cried.

Why. Why did they do that. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that Hiyoko would've had the biggest character development in all of Danganronpa, even more than Maki and Himiko, but they just- said "fuck her".
There is literally no excuses to not only do that, but do it so shamefully. There was not even a cleared up murder weapon, the motive was a total bullshit and she died for: being unlucky

Hiyoko's so fuckin' unlucky that it would be funny if it wasn't so goddamn tragic
And even people who don't like her agree, because everyone's gotta agree:

IF SHE FUCKIN' SURVIVED, SHE WOULD'VE BECOME SO MUCH MORE LIKEABLE!!

LIKE, SHE'S MEAN WITH MIKAN FOR EXAMPLE, YEAH, BUT IF YOU TELL ME SHE CAN'T BE GOOD TO HER, SURPRISE, SURPRISE, SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER
Hiyoko needed a chance. That's all. And she never got that chance.

AND SHE *EARNED* IT. SHE WENT AND FORGAVE FUYUHIKO, AND PEOPLE REALLY UNDERESTIMATE THAT, LIKE-

Sure, he stabbed himself, but do you realize some people can't forgive other people so easily?
If her character was written off to be cold and not care for Fuyuhiko at all, even at that situation, i would've believed it! She seemed like the kinda person who would be cold!

But surprise again: She's not cold!
Hiyoko's not a cold character! She's emotional and soft
She just tries her damn hardest not to be, because that shows weakness. Hiyoko hates weakness and the ones weaker than herself are targets, by extention, like Mikan and ants.

She can't help but hate how much she's weak and defenseless and worthless, she's just sick of it
Everyone targetting her and the only person she loved and loved her back, her father, wasn't there to take care of her?

She grew up to not trust anyone and be cruel... But she's still not cold!

That's totally the past of a character who could've become cold, but she didn't
And she went and forgave Fuyuhiko. In her own way. In her own mean and backhanded way.

She forgave him for Mahiru's sake, because that's what she would've wanted (Thanks, Chiaki, btw, you fought the good fight)

If she was a bad person, she could've just not care
But the fact that she cares, to me, shows that she's just a conflicted girl and her head is a mess.

She doesn't know if she hates everyone, if she wants to be friends with everyone or if she just wants to be alone.

And even then, when Mahiru was gone, if you+
Decide to talk to her, this is what she says;

She just can't believe that someone, would want to spend any time close to her even with how cruel she is to everyone.

Yeah, she is mean, but she also feels guilty and anxious about it. So is she that bad???? I don't think so
Does it mean she's innocent? No.

That's why i never said something like "Hiyoko did nothing wrong", that's not the case

Instead, i chose to accept her with her flaws, because that's what Mahiru did too and that's exactly what she needs to change and become better: acceptance..
Hiyoko manipulates? She does.
She says cruel things? You bet.
She's very selfish? Surely.

But is she genuine when she likes someone? Completely. Because It's not often that she's gonna find someone she can trust, but when she does, she's gonna devote herself 100%, even after +
They're already gone, she's gonna carry on their memory with her, forever and respect their wishes very much.

Unlike Fuyuhiko, who was basically trying to get himself hurt or even die, just to make up for Peko's sacrifice, even If she wouldn't want that-
Hiyoko was on a path to become kinder and more open, and always remember Mahiru and her memory.

And the very reason she died was because she cared very much for Mahiru, but not enough for the others, to trust them.
Like, hell, watch this video, please, it's very touching and it's one of the reasons i Stan her, if you wanna hear a bit more what it feels like to be on Hiyoko's position and not be able to understand that people want to help you
Thing is everyone chooses to look at Hiyoko's flaws instead of all the qualities and genuine moments she's had.

And she is *very* interesting, she's a very complex character, that you have to dig a lot to fully understand, but even then--

She's still not that gray
If she was, she would've probably k*lled Fuyuhiko on the hospital. But she didn't.

She's too much bark and no Bite.

And that's okay. I love her like that.
This is just how she's learned to survive in a harsh world that wants nothing but her gone.
So, yes. Her death was, to me, the most unfair and upsetting death ever.

Look at her! She deserved so much more!!
Can you imagine if she survived, she breaking out of despair and saying something smug like

"I... I heard Mahiru's voice... And she told me i can't stop here..!

We need to leave this place ... For Mahiru and everyone's sake...

And you idiots better not fuckin' disappoint me!!"
And finally, yes, i'm aware and glad about DR3 because if not, id personally hunt down Kodaka.

Like, c'mon- this scene too, where she THANKS Mikan blushing and the girl starts crying...

HIYOKO'S NICE DEEP DOWN, PLEASE, SEE THAT, PLEASE
So in conclusion:
Hiyoko's my favorite fictional character ever.
I see her as a mix of kin, comfort character and waifu. I love her very very much, on many different emotional layers and i'll stan her forever.
You're allowed to dislike her, but *hating* her is a big no no!!
She did not deserve to die, she did not deserve her life and she did not deserve to be treated even by the fandom like she's trash and a horrible human being.

She's a girl, with difficulty to deal with her feelings and people due to a life of trauma and mistrust
So thank you very much if you readed all of this.

I love my fuckin wife.

Stan that smile.
