Nirmalacharya [and his men] fought back against destruction of temples in Kashmir, begun in a big way under Sikandar Butshikan and his minion, Suha. He was defeated and his body was sawn in pieces by Sikandar's minions. 1:778-780, Rajatarangini, Jonaraja. https://twitter.com/alok_bhatt/status/1146224090031755264
It was KPs under Kanthabhatta who began the first mass reconversion program to bring back the Hindus who had been converted under Sikandar Butshikan. Kanthabhatta and his men were all massacred by Shams-ud-din Iraqi.
It was KPs under Mahanand Dhar who helped the Raja Sukhjiwan usurp the throne from the governor of Abdali. Sukhjiwan and Mahanand Dhar even brought in many Hindus into Kashmir to change the demography, despite many hardships to the locals due to unfamiliarity of newcomers to KPs.
It was the KPs, finally, under Birbal Dhar and his uncle Mirza Pandit, who successfully helped the Sikhs invade the Kashmir valley with detailed information about the state of the country. All this, of course, is forgotten, because the KP resistance was unsuccessful.
BTW, Nirmalacharya was sawn into pieces. Kanthabhatta and his students were massacred. Birbal Dhar lost his family. Patriotism sucks. But then, people can always ask cynically what the KPs did, I suppose.
