There has been a continuous propaganda campaign against the LNG contract and terminals by 2-3 TV anchors and so-called energy experts who are completely clueless on the matter.
In this thread I will I debunk their nonsense.
Firstly, this chart shows Pakistan’s LNG contract prices (US$/mmbtu) against similar contracts around the world. The green and red lines show that Pakistan’s negotiated LNG prices were among the lowest in the world.
This next chart shows Pakistan’s LNG supply and terminal agreements compared to India and Bangladesh. For both LNG supply and terminal tolling, Pakistan’s agreements with the private sector are lower than similar agreements by India and Bangladesh.
These propagandists love quoting a figure that $272,000 is given daily by the government to the terminal operator, but once again this is just sensationalism and lies.
The propagandists calculate the terminal profits at $1.5 Billion over 15 years.

THE REALITY IS THAT THE TOTAL REVENUE FOR THE LNG TERMINAL OVER 15 YEARS IS $1.3-1.4 BILLION.

They are not making that money as profits. It is just the revenue they are generating as regas charges.
The terminal operators invested $150-200 million (per terminal) to set up the terminals. This was only one of the costs.

THE FSRU COST ALONE IS $110-120K/DAY.
In addition to this, major cost elements for the terminal operator include:

FSRU lease
FSRU opex
Pipeline hospitality fee
Jetty/Terminal O&M;
Fuel cost (other than regas boil off);
PQA Royalty
Insurance
Tech & Prof Consultant fees (LNG & RLNG measurement)
Admin costs
Finance costs
Worker Funds
Various Taxes

Just to name a few. So the $272,000/day figure being quoted is deliberately misrepresented in a blatant attempt to mislead people.

This is deliberate propaganda by 2-3 of the worst so-called journalists in an attempt to gain views.
Thankfully, most of the TV anchors have been sensible and shared the true picture regarding the matter. It is only 2 or 3 lowlifes who are taking part in this propaganda campaign. You all know who they are.
