1/ One of the most common questions I get from leaders is... "how can we stay or get back to being innovative?"

Most want to talk process, I want to talk people.

I'll ask back. What personally types do you promote and who are you hiring?
2/ Innovation isn't some magic process, review board, or using JIRA 🤣, or being Agile.

Over the longer run companies will stop hiring the kinds of people that got them to where they are and hire people to operate what they have.
3/ A better diagnosis of innovation health is looking inward and see if you're still hiring/promoting a healthy mix of pioneers, settlers, and town planners.

Can the culture you created accept and grow these very different but critical roles?

4/ I bet that most of your interview processes are skewed towards one or two types. Some of you to one and that's likely a slow death.
5/ There's a million other things that matter to innovation. I'm no expert and have no certification.

What's worked for me is to start with your people and know the strong system that is created by the feedback loops between pioneers, settlers, and town planners. 🤘🏼 @swardley
