The more I have thought about @JulieAnneGenter comments this last week linking climate change to the Second World War the more appalled I am.
My deep unease stems partly from the largely benign reaction to it.

Like the time she called New Zealanders ‘car fascists’.
Instead it seems to have landed more with indifference than outrage in our media circles, as they charitably chose to assume she meant moving the country into a war like footing....

Firstly - climate change is not and never will be comparable with a war against fascism and a war for freedom, costing close to 80 million lives including 12,000 New Zealander’s.
Secondly- this Government is so far away from a true war footing it’s laughable....

They are capable only of reviews, working groups and lax spending. They can’t build anything.
War footing? This lot would still be reviewing where to put the footings of the maginot line and Hitler would already be in Paris....
