We stopped for @dgichuru to shower and catch up on morning exercise.
I could stay here forever.
6kms hike later, the clouds decided today was not it. I'll make do with the silver lining. Tonight, camp at Kimnai, tomorrow head off to Kapenguria.
Good morning! An early morning hike up Chemurgoi Hill before heading to W. Pokot. Literally upon the clouds. @lets_drift checks out Cherangany Hills and @dgichuru always wears the brightest
And finally home for tonight! There are rooms but we don't roll like that because we get to camp right by Murony River.
Goodbye West Pokot. I shall be back to hike your breathtaking hills.
That mountain in the first pic is a rock climbers'dream.

Back to Iten. Our guide has been Ken, who is also the manager at Iten View Point. Thats him with @dgichuru. This is where you should stop and ask for their Kienyeji chicken and chapos made with carrots.
He will also be your guide in Marakwet and West Pokot. You can discuss guide fees depending on where you want to go. He knows everyone and runs a very cool establishment.
So I should add here that this trip was not planned. @dgichuru asked @lets_drift and I, on Thursday, if we were free for a couple of days to leave on Monday. We were. I grabbed my tent, sleeping bag, cooler boxes with food I got form my house and left town on Tuesday at 1600hrs.
Our biggest cost has been fuel. Camped mostly for free (except Marich Pass where its 600 pp with own tent). We cooked our own food (hired a meko from Ken), food we bought in the little towns. Breakfast was french toast, mushrooms, peanut butter sandwiches.
It just hit me that I started the thread on Day #2. Day #1 was spent hiking Kessup Forest and falls in Iten. There are two falls both called Kessup. This is the first one.
The 2nd falls, where our hike started at. It's tiered, first two pics are what you see first, then they cascade to the 2other pics.
Kilima Resort sits at the top, owned by a Dutch guy and his former Kenyan athlete wife. Pretty good rates for accommodation.
We then headed to Kerio View which has amazing views but mainly because that's the paragliding (and headstand spot
)

And then we stopped by the upcoming Champions Corner or Heroes
Corner (a public park), bought some tree seedlings and planted. We are cool like that. Be the same. That last one is mine.

Then we headed off towards Tot and Maron at dusk and set up the tents at the top of the hill by the church, which is where this thread started. Last pic is road that leads to the church. A lovely family brought us tea in the morning

And that is the end of our 5- day spontaneous road trip., which ended up being a recce for @lets_drift, for future travels. If you would like someone to organise such an itinerary, talk to him! I end it with my favourite sunrise at church on the edge of a mountain.
