/25: Hello. I've updated my photography website. This, along with the month of June, is significant for me. A thread.
/25: I've found it tricky over the past few years to put the time into updating my website. Other people's projects tend to come first. But its happened. I've finally given http://www.ste.ie  a proper update. I also still can't believe I managed to claim that domain name.
/25: The biggest, and most terrifying, change has been uploading some 'personal' work. I despise this term. I will give a prize for anyone who thinks of a better name. But this is mostly work I've gone and made myself, and its work I'm interested in making.
/25: You might like to see a photo essay I made in Sicily about a massive concrete edifice, a series on people on their phones in Cuba, maybe a series about Bootscrapers of Dublin, or perhaps a look at a shiny memorial in London. I even manage to quote a @neonneonband song.
/25: In the 'commissioned' section (not mad on that term either) I've re-organised some architectural projects which I've photographed into a neat little grid with projects you can click into to see more. Many have been published with @BowerBirdApp

http://www.ste.ie/architecture
/25: You'll see work by architects like @odonnell_tuomey, @kengokuma, @ArchFarm, @fridaescobedo, @RobertBourke1, @fuergando, @DeclanScullion, @reddyarch, @deSiunArch, @alan_meredith, @Anthro_Studio and more. I've promised myself to update this section as I go...
/25: Next up, you can see some images from the worlds of Theatre, Opera and Dance. I've split these up into Promotion (generally photos for posters) and Performance (generally photos of the show).

/25: You can see photos I've taken for/in places like @TUpstairs, @projectarts, @smockalley, @GateTheatreDub and @AbbeyTheatre, for companies like @RoughMagicIRL, @SickleMoonPro, @IllustratedProd, @BitterLikeALemn, @RiseIreland, @CollapsingHorse, @dublinfringe, and many more!
/25: Building on this theme of performance, I've put some live Music photos up from many memorable gigs, alongside some portraiture of musicians too. A lot of these were taken for @GoldenPlec, so a big thanks for all their support over the years.

/25: Portraiture has been divided into actor headshots (all taken with natural light) and more general portraits of various lovely people. These shoots can be a weird and wonderful process that I'm learning a lot from.

/25: Finally, the print store should now be easier to use. Maybe you'd like to purchase a print for a loved one's anniversary, a mate's new house, or your dog's birthday. Custom orders also welcome; drop me a mail at [email protected]. Thanks to @thecopperhse for all the printing.
/25: There's so much that I can't include on the website, so that's why I use @Flickr. Its my archive of 35k+ photos, and nearly everything I take ends up there, including the documentation I've done for the lovely @IAFarchitecture over the years.

/25: Yes, my flickr nickname (funkymonk2000) is slightly embarrassing, but I picked it when I was 19 and you can't change it now. I was a massive @ChiliPeppers fan growing up. Suck my kiss.
/25: I've been using @instagram in recent years to showcase some lesser spotted photos from the above flickr archive, as well as behind the scenes photos of my daily struggle. Life. I meant life. My daily life.

/25: I've taken the time to put this thread together because I'm a big fan of archiving and organising. Yes, there is a perpetual 40 projects on my desktop that need finishing off, but doing this kind of retrospective check-in is important, right? Its a locating, in many ways.
/25: I'm grateful to all my collaborators over the years and wanted to acknowledge their trust and patience. So much of what I do, while documeting their projects, is just me trying NOT to mess up THEIR work.
/25: I completed my masters in @UCDArch 7 years ago. I registered my business and started the website the week after my final critique (June 1st) and have been full-time with photography (alongside acting) since. Its exhausting but rewarding.
/25: June is always special to me. Its the month that most of the services and websites I use come up for renewal, and although this isn't nice on the aul wallet, its a nice reminder of surviving another year (and, hopefully, progressing and developing in that year, too).
/25: I'm lucky that the main output of my work (the photo) is usually seen and credited and shared. What isn't seen are the late nights and rejections and invoice-chasing and anxiety that comes with working for yourself. This should be noted. Its not all rosy.
/25: The timing of this website update feels fitting. Anyone who's gotten me to take photos in the past 7 years would have received a project code in the image title. 'SM_0001...SM_0002' etc. I'm currently on 'SM_0992'. Over the next week I'll hit 'SM_1000'. My 1000th project.
/25: Thanks to my assistant Andrew who helped get this site updated. Thanks too to my office mates for putting up with my random hours. To @Twopupscoffee1 for the fuel. And thanks to @CanonUKandIE and @berminghamcams for the gear and tools to be able to do this.
/25: So, what next? I try not to plan too far ahead, but as well as continuing to work with new & existing collaborators on interesting projects, I guess it would be nice to have an agency and/or gallery represent my work some day...
/25: Ok so, g'wan then. Some more dreams: I'd like to work with architects I admire both here in Ireland and around the world. Offices like #PeterZumthor or #DavidChipperfield, for example. Hit me up. I'd like to work in a variety of venues and at multitude of festivals...
/25: ... I'd like to go on tour with musicians I like. I'd like to exhibit around the world alongside work I admire. I'd like to move into directing and working in film. I'd like to photograph a training session for @LFC. I'd like to keep acting alongside all of this.
/25: Ultimately, I'd like to continue to observe, to train my eyes in how they see, and how this is then re-presented. It'd be heartening to work on projects that make a deeper impact; projects that go beyond the visual. Thanks for your space and time.
