What happens when you can no longer afford to take treatment in the private sector - be it medical aid or cash?

You move to the public sector and continue your treatment there
1. Find out where your nearest clinic is and if they offer antiretroviral treatment

2. Find out what the procedure is for a "transfer-in"

Is there a form that has to be filled out? Do you need to bring copies of your most recent blood tests?
3. Make sure you have your medication bottle(s) to take to the clinic on the day that you go

This is important!

"I take a white tablet once a day" is not going to work
4. Be patient

The public sector is different from the private sector

Find out what time you have to be at the clinic before cut-off and make sure you're on time
5. Once you've been in the system long enough and you're doing well, you'll start getting your medication at Dischem or Clicks
Retrenchments are happening. Everyone is tightening their belts. Taking antiretroviral medication in public sector facilities is an option.
