A Brazilian hacker, codenamed "mysterious peacock" has just exposed confidential documents on Twitter claiming to have traced Bitcoin deposits on the sum of 300k USD paid from The Intercept to Evgenyi Bogachev, FBI's most wanted black-hat hacker.
The Intercept, an online news publication, co-founded by Glenn Greenwald, is a progressive publication that possesses the classified documents exfiltrated by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, detailing the United States and British global surveillance programs.
Glenn, married to a Brazilian Federal Congressman recently revealed private messages between now Justice Minister Sergio Moro and the task force of “Operation Car Wash”, alleging that as a crusading anti-corruption judge he coordinated with prosecutors in the case that led to the
conviction and jailing of former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. Moro is a national hero in Brazil and one of the strong men of President-elect Jair Bolsonaro, who recently cemented the alliance with US President Donald Trump on a bilateral meeting in Washington.
The Intercept is financially backed by tech billionaire and eBay founder Pierre Omidyar. Omidyar who has been explicitly praised as someone who is following in the footsteps of George Soros is said to have helped topple Ukrainian president in 2014.
The whole exposure happened on a twitter account a few hours ago that has been taken down already. It's detailed in Portuguese and it has reached Brazil's trending topics on Twitter this Sunday.
If the allegations prove to be true, this could be an international coordinated cybercrime aiming to destabilize the Brazilian democracy. The US has no extradition agreement with Russia. Brazil does.
Who could be the actors interested in fragilizing Brazil's anti-corruption crusade and what is motivating them to do so?
President-elect Bolsonaro, Justice Minister Sergio Moro, Pulitzer prize award American journalist Glenn Greenwald, Data Monarch and eBay founder, Pierre Omidyar and FBI's most wanted hackers are all involved on this. Huge headline!!
Or perhaps could Brazil Politics be solely the highlight story to help First Look Media increase its engagement rates and remain funded. More to come... https://www.cjr.org/business_of_news/layoffs-the-intercept.php
"Behind the image he has cultivated of himself as a “progressive philanthropreneur,” Omidyar has wielded his media empire to advance the Washington consensus in strategic hotspots around the globe. His fortune helped found an outlet to propel a destabilizing coup in Ukraine;...
"...he’s helped establish a network of oppositional youth activists and bloggers in Zimbabwe; and in the Philippines he has invested in an oppositional news site that is honing corporate surveillance techniques like a “mood meter…to capture non-rational reactions.”
