This week has witnessed yet another attack by anti-trans lobbyists towards an organisation showing support for trans people - this time @NSPCC was targeted 😞

I’ve been studying the techniques used by trans-hostile activists, and thought I’d share my findings here.

Thread....
For background, @NSPCC was criticised for appointing @MunroeBergdorf as their first #LGBT ambassador, and following a pile-on by anti-trans campaigners, the NSPCC retracted their position - An action that’s been widely criticised... https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2019/06/09/childline-cuts-ties-munroe-bergdorf
The complaint was initiated by a days-old twitter account, with the ‘official sounding’ name of ‘Safe Schools Alliance’ and was quickly amplified by The Times journalist - and known anti-transgender campaigner - Janice Turner ( @victoriapeckham)
How did, what is effectively a (polished-up with photoshop and a logo) troll soc account get such traction, and how did it manage to sway an established charity like the @NSPCC and its CEO @PeterWanless?
The problem is that on twitter, all ‘likes’ and ‘retweets’ are created equal.

That is, if you’re the target of an anti-trans pile-on, you can find wave upon wave of negativity scrolling through your twitter notifications as you’re tagged into comments which are then ‘liked’.
For an individual like @NSPCC CEO @PeterWanless, they can literally receive over 1,000 notifications from one tweet!

It’s no wonder they freak-out and scramble to respond without considering WHO is behind such activity- especially when seemingly ‘endorsed’ by a Times journalist!
I thought I’d help out and look at who @safeschools_uk really are, so that @NSPCC and @PeterWanless can maybe learn from their mistake?....
One thing that needs to be remembered, is that @safeschools_uk is just a social media account.

It’s not recognised, registered or endorsed by any authorised body, nor is it a company, charity or have any membership...

Much like a handful of similar anti-trans accounts....
As @SafeSchools_UK and others are purely social media platforms, the only people they can really be seen to represent are those people who actively follow them.

So let’s have a look at their followers to uncover what their real intentions are?....
You’d think that as the followers of @Safeschools_uk were so clearly concerned about @NSPCC’s actions regarding @MunroeBergdorf, that they’d be big followers of @NSPCC?

In fact, they’re not at all interested in helping children, and can clearly be seen as a subset of WPUK & FPFW
It’s patently obviously from these graphics that @safeschools_uk is merely a targeted campaign group representing the same people as @womans_place_uk and @fairplaywomen

They’re similarly a subset of @Transgendertrd, whose followers are equally as disinterested by @NSPCC!
In fact, despite frequent claims by @womans_place_uk, @fairplaywomen & @transgendertrd that they are concerned about women and CHILDREN, it can clearly be seen that their followers are totally disinterested in child welfare.

Surely they’d be following @NSPCC if they were???
Similarly, you might expect people following campaigning platforms @womans_place_uk and @fairplaywomen - demanding ‘sex-based rights’ in spaces like women’s refuges to keenly support leading UK charity @womensaid?

It would seem not?
Surely you’d expect followers of Transgender Trend (who has crowdfunded large sums of money to push their own misleading version of the 2010 Equality Act into schools) to be interested in teaching and education?

Yet hardly any follow education experts @Ofstednews or @tes!
Surely @transgendertrd’s followers are aware of what @samaritans do - as they often have opinions about trans-supportive orgs that reference suicide statistics of trans youth?

Maybe they’re concerned about young people’s mental health and follow @MindCharity?

It seems not?
What’s absolutely apparent from the above data is that @safeschools_uk, @womans_place_uk, @fairplaywomen and @transgendertrd’s followers are absolutely NOT interested in
🔘 Women’s welfare
🔘 Children’s well-being
🔘 Best practice in schools
🔘 Mental health
🔘 The @NSPCC
So what *are* @Womans_Place_UK, @fairplaywomen and @Transgendertrd’s followers (and thereby the online groups) interested in then?...

Well it’d seem as though they’re mainly interested in each other?

And this is how they operate - reinforcing each other’s anti-trans campaigns!
Of course these anti-trans lobby groups have a ‘secret weapon’, giving them instant access to the national news media.

And even if their trans-hostile propaganda isn’t published, a tweet from a Times journalist with a huge following gets attention.

As was seen by @NSPCC!
The truth can be seen here...

In reality there’s circa 5k ‘hard core’ anti-trans lobbyists mobilising approx 25k transphobic activists WORLDWIDE to sign their petitions, finance their crowdfunders and pile-on organisations and individuals on social media!
I know that when you’re the recipient of an unexpected tsunami of anti-transgender hate, that it feels like the whole world is against you...

But the reality is it’s just a handful of transphobes with an obsessive cabal of bigots ready to attack with laser focus.
Remember, most people are supportive of trans people! 💕

Whatever the negative headlines say, the reputable research says diifferent!
