Only five more wins followed, and the club was eventually relegated on the final matchday against Stuttgart, but they left with their heads held high!

While many may have dreamed of a swift return, their free fall continued through the Bundesliga 2, meaning back-to-back relegations for Paderborn.

Life in the third division was no easier, and defeat to local rivals VfL Osnabrück on Matchday 38 left the club's future at risk.

...Meanwhile, TSV 1860 Munich were relegated from the second tier, but were unable to attain a licence for the third division. This opened up a space for Paderborn which they seized with both hands
