In the netrunner universe, the Jinteki Corporation mass produces perfect human clones, while simultaneously lobbying to ensure they do not have human rights. This is profit motive, because if clones did have human rights, they would have to pay them and they could vote.
A major storyline in the game involves the Indian elections, and the clone suffrage movement there. In the left image the protestors are covering the backs of their necks - where the bar codes are. All are equal - despite the fact that clones steal human jobs.
In truth, Jinteki, a faction whose entire play experience can be summarized as 'damned if you do, damned if you don't', doesn't really care whether clones have rights or not, because it's engineered a situation where both outcomes are desirable.
Sure, they would have to pay clones and provide for them as they would with their human employees, and they wouldn't be able to perform mass recalls or torture them into doing their dark bidding or w/e

Voters that they effectively brainwash, voters whose every strand of DNA is hand-selected to best serve Jinteki. Pretending to oppose clone suffrage is simply cover. They don't care which happens because either way they win.
I tell you all this because this is what Republicans are effectively doing. They don't care which way things go in the abortion debate. Either they rile up the deluded pro-life base to hold on to power or they ensure more low income low education people are born and vote them in
Simultaneously, making it a felony to have an abortion means the women most likely to vote against them either lose their voting rights or move away, losing their voting rights. The law gets challenged? We stacked the courts motherfuckers
Fighting them purely on these fronts only strengthens them. These are a people who thrive on persecution and outrage. You have to remove their ability to effect policy. Vote them out then salt the ashes.
Conservatism is having its extinction burst. Public opinion is against them: 92% of Americans support gun control. 18% believe abortion should be illegal in all cases. 75% support gay rights. 57% believe the govt should be responsible for health care.
