Orwell said language is often used to dress up shabby thoughts, a tool of evasion rather than communication.
“[Language] becomes ugly and inaccurate because our thoughts are foolish, but the slovenliness of our language makes it easier for us to have foolish thoughts.”
Language is dominated by technical “bureaucratese,” academic-speak, and politically correct. It inflates flimsy ideas.
