thread of all the controversial things the K-pop girl group Blackpink have done :
1) the members (in the pictures are lisa, rosé, and jisoo) have worn cornrows and box braids, which many have called out for culture appropriation. the group also has stated they are aware of c.a. yet continued on with the braids.
2) the member jennie, in particular, has been called out for culture appropriation of desi culture as seen in these pictures.
3) this video of Blackpink "mockingly dancing" to a song that people have called out for making fun of Indians has also offended people.
4) in the physical album of Kill This Love by Blackpink, photos of Blackpink with bruises and cuts have alarmed some and have people calling them out for romanticizing abuse or using abuse as an aesthetic.
5) this is another photo from the Kill This Love album by Blackpink of the member jennie which some have called out for culture appropriation as well.
6) from an interview, Blackpink have stated they are aware of culture appropriation concerns. The following text have some saying that they do not care about the matter and are being disrespectful by continuing on with the culture appropriation.
7) although probably not the group's fault, their highly controversial company YG Entertainment (currently in a scandal where an idol is involved with many serious crimes such as prostitution and rape) has been accused of payola and mediaplay numerous times +
for instance, some articles have called Blackpink "the biggest K-pop group" despite many saying they do not have the sales or records broke to back this up. This has led many to believe Blackpink's company YG + UMG is paying to say these things, especially by American companies.
8) the member jennie has been called out harshly for "being lazy" dancing in concerts, official performances, and more. many fans who paid a lot of money were also upset by this. many are angry she is being lazy and privileged when so many would love to be in her place.
9) the member jennie had a scandal where someone online (who apparently knew her in school and showed the yearbook picture to prove it) accused her of being a bully while in school. this blew up tremendously online. jennie has had many accuse her of having a bad attitude.
10) k-pop idols are not allowed to date for a period of time after debut. idols edawn and hyuna were kicked out of their company for being revealed dating. however, the member jennie was found to be dating another k-pop idol named kai from the group Exo. she faced 0 consequences.
11) the member jennie has said the n word.

13) blackpink have been highly criticized for their "underwhelming vocal and rap ability, especially when live".
14) "their concerts are filled with instances of forgetting lyrics, members seemingly mad at each other, and lazy dancing (even though their choreo is easy) ."
15) they come from the extremely shady company YG Entertainment. YG always has scandals, the recent one being their idol Seungri from BigBang being investigated (the evidence has been confirmed as real) of prostitution in his club and being linked to snuff films, forced abortion+
+ and more horrifying crimes. The police have also said that YG is likely involved in this. Many have had the realization that they don't want to support such a company, or even wondering if BP is linked to more of these scandals from this company.
16) to add more to the mediaplay scandal, YG claimed that Blackpink's American (and European) tour was sold out and their BillBoard magazines were as well. They weren't. This is an increasingly common instance. YG brags and lies about all of their "success" when the demand isn't+
+ there. They're simply not as popular as claimed, and/or the fans just don't want to purchase all of the merch.
17) they have used sacred native american culture in their song boombayah. this includes war cries and the traditional rain dance, and native americans consider this as highly offensive.
18) they have also apparently continued on with the south asian racism with putting this video of their fans doing a mocking dance in their concert.

20) blackpink dont have anything to do with their songs other than performing them. this has led to a debate on how they're "not artists" and instead "performers". whenever they're questioned about the meaning of a song or the process, etc. , they always look clueless.
21) blackpink have been accused of having plastic surgery and even bleaching their skin. below is a picture that has circulated around the internet.
