Plasan, in addition to armour, design & manufacture entire vehicles. Of these, the 2nd Gen Sand Cat is of interest, a Ford F550 and new build v-hull. With the amount of Ford and Plasan's own fabrication in the UK, there is surprising scope for local design/build. Also Yagu.

Anglo Engineering Concepts represents the small teams UK design. All-up CAD designs from experienced designers known to the MOD (LM, AVA, HMT's suspension, etc). A team could prototype these designs from the UK base.

HORIBA MIRA - who assisted NIMR in the design of their RIV - have 39 vehicle testing, design and consultancy facilities throughout the country. If you considered a car that you have sat in to be safe, MIRA have likely been involved at some point in its lifecycle.

Echoing the battery thread from last year, the UK has all the ingredients to reinvigorate its light/protected vehicle industry. All it needs is the right incentive and organisation to pull all of the pieces together. I believe there are strong benefits for the MOD to do so.
