My first year in private practice was a nightmare
If a patient couldn't afford the R350 levy for the first consultation, I would let it go
But I still had to buy medical stationery, etc.
Three years down the line, I'm wiser, less broke, and praying for things to change

PS there are some medical aid schemes that pay what the specialist or GP asks. I have a handful of those patients. I appreciate those medical aid schemes
When that happens, I refund the patient their co-payment. I have been paid what I believe I am worth. You get your R350 back
