In May, 1625, as King, he marries Henrietta Maria of France, and begins a family. He argues with Parliament over the "Divine Right of Kings", amongst other issues. His policies lead to Civil War in 1642. His supporters are known as "Royalists" and "Cavaliers"

Charles' part in the civil wars ends on 30 January, 1649 when he is executed in public for treason. His death warrant is signed by 59 regicides. At the "Restoration" when his son, King Charles II, regains the throne, the vast majority of them will regret their decision.
