Today for #BHM , I want to highlight a remarkable mentor and role model of mine: @PeterBlairHenry. His research mainly focuses on macroeconomics/development and the caliber of his work has led him into incredible spaces. He's the best, truly. A thread/
Y'all... Dr. Henry is impressive: Scholar-athlete at @UNC, Rhodes Scholar at Oxford and Marshall-Scholar elect, PhD in Economics from MIT, and as a graduate student, he advised the Bank of Jamaica and Eastern Caribbean Central Bank cc https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Blair_Henry. #WeStan 2/
Clearly, his background has drawn attention from some of the world's leading organizations and people: @BarackObama, @BrookingsEcon, @Nike, @nberpubs, and the list goes on and on and on. Did y'all know that he's @samirawiley's (Orange is the New Black) cousin? Amazing. 3/
Recently, Henry stepped down as the dean of @NYUStern to focus on his research and mentorship initiative ( @PhDEI_Econ). His commitment to inspiring the next generation of economists of color inspires me. Last year, I was invited by him, with some of my colleagues, to NYU. 4/
The best thing about @PeterBlairHenry is his humility in the face of tremendous success. He leads by example, and with care. His mentees and colleagues include @femme_economics, @nomadj1s, and @pqblair. All of them are mentors for me today. 5/5
