Once again I feel like we're on the right track track but caught the wrong train.

By the time we realize it we will have missed the transfer. https://twitter.com/schafferwmar/status/1093463300153708544
You ever been the only Black person on a DC train that missed the last transfer before Virginia?

It is UNcomfortable.
First time it happened I was reading a book. Then I had that feeling I got right before the only time someone tried to jump me.
I looked up.

The way the train is set up, there are a few seats by the door where the accessible seating is.

I sit in the last row of these, facing the other dozen or so rows during rush hour instead of fighting for those seats.
So when I look up, maybe 50 people are facing me who are seated. Another 10 or 12 are standing in the row or by the door.

All of them. Are staring. At me.

And they look upset.
Now, I didn’t DO anything. I just made a mistake.

They’d just have to bear my presence for long enough for us to cross the Potomac River and get to where people who have houses as nice as mine, but worth twice as much, live.
I don’t know if it turns into a champagne car after the last Black person leaves or something?

But they stayed mad and staring and hostile that whole 7 or ten minutes.
Which seems like a short period of time. But ask a person near you, who you actually love and trust, to look at you like they’re pissed off.

See how long you last.
And you ASKED them to do it.

You love and trust them. You know them. They aren’t strangers. At least not more than one, a mob you can’t fight off.
You know they won’t lynch you and throw you in a river where you’ll never be found.

And if they were at least you know you could call the police.
They’d never arrive in time. If they were already near by some miracle it wouldn’t make things worse or risk your life.

And if you died they’d investigate. Either someone would go to jail or your family could sue Metro for Wrongful Death.
I’d just be another disabled Black woman who went missing.
Yeah that went dark quick but the point is SO DOES MY LIFE STOP DOING RACISMS THEY AREN’T HARMLESS TELL YOUR FRIENDS.
