Cesar Chavez founded the United Farm workers (UWF) in hopes of rallying farm workers and fighting for rights of said farm workers. Rights that included safe work conditions, better pay and safe labor practices.
When leading strikes to raise awareness of the mistreatment of said workers, Chavez and UFW uses tactics that targeted, harassed and killed undocumented immigrants.
Chavez helped produce a magazine called “El Malcriado” in which he called to deport, stop or kill “wetbacks”. He called on the forming of border militias and helped border patrol catch border crossers.
He and his team would set up camps along the border where they would stop people coming in. Their logic was that people who came in would replace the strike workers and they wouldn’t have a strike bc the workers where replaced
Said militias allegedly caused deaths of numerous migrants.
He also threatened “strike breakers” with deportation if they returned to work.

UFW had a close and direct form of contact with border patrol, they would tip of BP as well.
Chavez oublically called for the deportation of “wetbacks” in order to benefit his cause. He believed in “migrantion done the right way”
