ACTUAL advice on smooching and romance in TTRPGs incoming:

A Thread
It’s funny. I joke literally all the time about kisses in my various games - but I think the reason this has become especially funny to me is - SOME PEOPLE DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW TO SMOOCH OR GET SMOOCHED IN GAMES.
So I am here - as your smooch master - to impart some words of wisdom on you.

Tell.
Everyone.
You need.
The smooch.
Okay maybe that is a bit extreme, but I’m not *fucking* kidding around here. The absolute biggest mistake I see people make game after game after game is keeping their characters hidden feelings TO THEMSELVES.
Who. Who are you helping here my friend??

Yes! The #DRAMA is very good and I understand that dropping those three BIG words on your friends when they expect nothing is high key extra and you want it. But I promise you? It isn’t worth it.
When you decide your character has feelings for another PC or an NPC - you don’t need to tell everyone. But honestly? You need to tell your GM and the other player. And the ‘why’ is very simple.

It MAY NOT HAPPEN otherwise.
Your GM and fellow players could be totally oblivious to the fact that your oc wants that fucking smooch!! BECAUSE YOU ARE KEEPING IT A SECRET. INTENTIONALLY.
Now imagine, that you TOLD people. OUT OF CHARACTER. #METAGAMING that knowledge to your friends. Please take a step back and look at the drama that could come out of it?
When you, your GM and your friend are all setting up dramatically ironic scenes and heartbreakingly painful conversations and LEVERAGING your in-game hidden feelings against your character!

When you DO get the smooch????

HEART-WRENCHING. JAW DROPPING. DRAMA.
I swear. You will not have regrets talking to your friends about the things you want for your character. Then they have a chance to make things so much more interesting, don’t they? And so do you. Because you all know, behind every little touch or gesture - you wanted the smooch.
SO DO YOURSELF THAT FAVOR. AND YELL. ABOUT. SMOOCH.

That is all.
