fantasy au scenario in which hawks' bird takes a liking to enji and keeps flying off to visit him unsupervised
and enji is completely 100% under the belief that hawks can shapeshift into an actual fucking bird and that he keeps getting stuck in this bird form and enji keeps talking to this bird like it's him until one day hawks overhears it
and hawks doesn't stop grinning when he realizes enji has been talking to and grooming and petting this bird under the assumption that it's /him/ and he never lets him live it down
alternatively: hawks finds out but says /nothing/ because he's afraid enji won't talk to him like that to his not-bird face-- he hasn't yet, after all. it's like enji thinks it's just a thing they don't talk about
so hawks keeps following after his bird and listening in on the affection and praises enji gives him. which isn't sneaky at all, he thinks, because enji /does/ think the bird is him, so it's fine, right? definitely fine.
