We gotta talk about the way fat children are harmed in boot camps. We gotta talk about the death of Gina Score. She was 14, got in trouble for petty theft (stealing out of her parents wallets, and some lockers), and now she's dead.

She was sent to a camp which the ex-Marine instructor had modeled on the military boot camps he'd gone through. She was fat, and not athletic, unable to perform simple exercises. The staff knew this. But she was fat, so fuck that. She's gotta run.
It was a hot summer. On July 21st, 1999, Gina was made to start a 2.7mile run. She fell behind, and instructors stayed behind to insult her and prod her on. After a while she collapsed. Her lips were turning purple. She began to froth at the mouth. Nobody helped.
The staff stood around drinking sodas while accusing her of faking, making jokes at her expense, chatting casually as she babbled incoherently and then went quiet. After four hours of Gina lying on the ground, a doctor came by and called an ambulance because she was fucking dead.
Her organs had failed. They stood there and watched her die and made jokes. She was 14 years old.
Please don't ever, don't EVER talk to me about how the hate is just tough love. Please don't ever tell me you're just worried about people's health.
It's like I think sometimes I've seen the worst, you know, like I've become jaded, inured to the many permutations of hatred against fat people, and then you read a thing about a fucking little kid dying in front of a bunch of laughing ghouls and you know what? It's not okay.

To people asking, all parties were acquitted.
