Aaron Swartz wanted to make academic research papers open to the public (coz they're funded by tax). Then we could focus on each area of research & analyse the correlation between the results & the funding source. This is a huge threat to the corporations. #RememberAaronSwartz
Imagine what would happen if I collect ALL research papers on hypertension, study the varying interpretations of what is classed as "high"
BP by the heart society across the timeline - from the time of one of the oldest beta-blocker Atenolol to the more modern beta-blockers .....
.....& correlate it with sponsors of the heart society across the same timeline?

Firstly, I will notice that the threshold number for high BP has been consistently lowered over the years.
Secondly, I will notice that the medical boards or heart society etc. which determine these health thresholds have been increasingly sponsored by pharma.

Now if I dig just a bit deeper & further group the beta-blockers into two more ways - 1. based on their chemical composition
2. Based on the pharmaceutical company

And compare the recommendations for the threshold put forth in the research across the time line based on classification #1, will it be consistent with the results obtained across the same timeline based on classification #2? Heck no.
Anyway.. so that's just a little peek into the potential power of making all research papers open source.

Allowing for such systematic dissection & analysis of research across various fields -- healthcare, climate change, economics, trade, finance, social policies --
....will pose a huge threat to the corporatocrats. The powers that be do not want such a person who has the potential to shake the status quo with their intellect. They are weeded out.

Academia plays a crucial part in maintaining the corrupt corporatocracy and the status quo.
Six years on since Aaron Swartz's death. Nothing has changed

Academia has only become more corrupt.

Researchers & "professors" have ditched ethics & see their work as being detached from the real human lives impacted by the consequences of their research.
