1935: All India Legislative Assembly discussed a resolution to remove the ban from the #RedShirts (Khudai Khitmatgars) movement. #QuaideAzam M.A. Jinnah was the last member to speak on the issue.

A brief thread on Jinnah's speech and on the fate of the resolution.
The non-violent movement of RedShirts, led by Bacha Khan, was banned following the #QissaKhwaniMassacre in April 1930 and many of its activists stayed behind bar for years.

The number of people killed by the British-Indian Govt is disputed. The govt claimed it were 20 while
according to the movement it was beyond 700.

Almost five years of that incident, the legislative assembly debated if the ban from the movement should be lifted.

Dr. Khan sahib, elder brother of Bacha Khan, who himself was a member of the movement and was also the elected
member of the assembly, was also arrested after that incident but later released. He defended the movement's non-violence in the assembly and also protested the govt bombings of the Pashtun tribes by the RAF.
M.A. Jinnah was the last member to speak on the resolution. He made some very interesting remarks and urged the govt to lift the ban on the RedShirts Movement. Here I attach selected paras from his speech. His arguments are classic and of a statesman.
See how Jinnah wanted the people of the then NWFP to be treated, accepted and integrated. And why the ban should be lifted from movement.
In the end, there was voting on the resolution and there was 74 YES votes, including one from Jinnah, and 46 NOes.
