When a Jewish revolutionary terrorist killed the Russian Emperor Alexander II in 1881 by throwing a bomb at his feet, a vast wave of Jewish revolutionaries fled Russia fearing repercussions. One such Jew was Abraham Cahan. 1/6
Cahan arrived to the US by steamboat in 1882 - bringing his poisonous ideology of Marxism to the lower East Side of Manhattan. Within a year, the 22 year-old would begin criticizing America through a Marxist lense, spreading his beliefs among Jews in the lower East Side. 2/6
Five years after his arrival in 1887, Cahan joined the Socialist Labor Party of America because...why not stir up a revolution in America too? That same year, Cahan founded the Jewish Daily Forward, a newspaper with which he would criticize the Anglos that welcomed him. 3/6
There's no risk in allowing one revolutionary terrorist to promote his ideology in America, right? What if it was more than one? Well, it was. For months, Leon Trotsky worked at Cahan's newspaper in New York just prior to leading the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia in 1918. 4/6
After Trotsky left to Russia to start a revolution, Cahan erected a building for his newspaper on the lower East Side. There were so many Communist Jew newspapers clustered in the lower East Side, it was nicknamed "Yiddish Newspaper Row" after Park Avenue's "Newspaper Row." 5/6
Although the Jewish Daily Forward has since relocated, the building is still standing - a memorial to an ideology that has killed millions of Europeans. It's front is adorned with relief sculptures of famous Communists:
- Marx ✡
- Liebknecht ✡
- Engels
- Lassalle ✡
