#Alberta has an 8.2% unemployment rate. Massively uncomfortable question: What do you think the rate would be if #Alberta was a U-S state? The correct answer is full employment. Everyone knows how much I love Canada and #Alberta So it breaks my Cdn heart to think our federal
system is so incompetent, unflexible & ideologically biased that we should have to ask uncomfortable questions like this. Look at the low unemployment numbers in U-S states that have far fewer advantages and assets than #Alberta and you don't have to be a #Nobel prize winner in
Economics to know that #Alberta would be the superstar, the Connor McDavid of state economies if the government and courts weren't albatrosses around the necks of #Albertans I always want #Alberta to be part of Canada. But how I could blame #Albertans looking at 8.2% unemployment
and billions of dollars of investment they aren't getting if they ask questions like "What are our options? Is there a better path forward? Is our powerful connection to Canada much more about our past than our future? As a Canadian patriot I wish I didn't have to ask
these questions. But the Canadian people who have been loyal to me for so many years always expect me to share what I'm thinking, honestly and plainly, no matter how uncomfortable it is and in this case, brutal & painful. I've always supported Cdn unity coast to coast to coast.
But I've never supported abuse. After witnessing the federa gov't applauding the #LNGCanada mega project in #BC ( which I'm thrilled to support 100% ) while once again delaying the progress of # #TransMountain and then seeing these #Alberta unemployment numbers, I am forced
to ask uncomfortable & painful questions. I want all my fellow Canadians to be able to fulfill their potential, unencumbered by ideological nitwittery practised by governments who think their job is to pick winners & losers. We need a different approach asap.
If we don't course correct now, we're driving toward a destination that is unthinkable for most Canadians. I get that many people like to focus only on the now. In my opinion it's irresponsible not to look the future squarely in the eye and have the courage to see what we see.
