Beware of the 'non-performance' clause! It's not recognised by @FIFAcom @SAFPU_Official as it's an unfair form of dismissal!

In the changing room, team bus & hotel: Let's make it fashionable to talk about that degree you are studying, your start-up business or book you are reading rather than which car you bought or girl you took home last night!

If an experienced/ex-pro gives younger players life-style or financial advice which effects the after-life🙄it's not because he's jealous of your youth and regular salary-it's because he wants to help you break a destructive cycle!

The global & local talent pool is so competitive that often it is not one's technical ability that sets you above the rest but...perseverance, determination, communication, competitiveness, lifestyle and being on time!

Footballing opinion is slanted towards the subjective. Whether you played for your country or for The Cock&Bull, watch football regularly or wait every 4yrs!

Likewise with coaches = 16 different opinions about your skill-set!

Perseverance is king!

A year ago a young PSL player was earning R10k pm and had become a regular in the 1st team. He is a BCom graduate and is studying further through @unisa
His agent recently negotiated a new contract worth R40k pm and R120k sign-on fee after the player thought he deserved more and wanted his mum to stop working.
Invested sign-on fee into an apartment in Sandton. Rents it out as he wants to remain at home with mum who gets half his salary and has left her job as a domestic worker.

Great example of what the industry should be producing. Balanced young PRO with a great future ahead of him!

I feel that a youngster should always look the coach/advisor/administrator directly in the eyes when he or she is handing out instructions/advice/admonishment so that they know it's at least being processed! The art of listening...

Coffee with an unemployed SA pro-footballer...

Player: I had four clubs interested in me but two of them eventually said I was not suited to their style and one asked for 10% of my package and the other...

Me: Wait! What? Sorry?
Player: Yup, the team manager asked for 10% of my contract. Others told me of coaches blatantly asking for match bonuses in return for a starting berth.

Don't succumb to extortion! These gatekeepers are stealing indirectly from the club, directly from you & from SA development!

I've been impressed with our footballers contribution towards their communities battle vs #COVID19

Continue to do so for your extended families & communities whether its through your own NPO or piggy-backing on a reputable organisation!👏⚽️🇿🇦

"We spend a lot of time on social media watching other people! We don't invest enough time on improving our own lives!"

Not enough players stay after training to work on weaknesses so as to compete in a highly competitive environment. Off-field behaviour???
