@usarmy @usarmyeurope #asiantwitter which is fucked up b/c the FIRST SERGEANT himself was asian. it was one of those moments in my life where i was just completely stunned/frozen in time bc i just couldnt believe that a person in HIS POSITION would say/do something like that.
@USArmy @USArmyEurope During my brief time in the #USArmy, Ive dealt with numerous NUMEROUS incidents where NCOs would make these incredibly offensive racist jokes about me as an asian person like it was nothing, like it was just a normal thing to do. #AsianTwitter
@USArmy @USArmyEurope #asiantwitter Listen, I wish I could say I was proud of my time in the #USArmy. I wish I could say I was proud of the organization I chose to be a part of. But I can't. As an Asian Man, I'm deeply ashamed of my time spent with these racists.
@USArmy @USArmyEurope #AsianTwitter And I've spent years trying to erase the memory of my time spent in the #USArmy, & trying to cope w/ the deep hurt caused by the racism & harassment I've had to deal w/ on a regular basis. It's a shame. It's a real fucking shame.
@USArmy @USArmyEurope #AsianTwitter My advice to any young Asian Men thinking about joining the #USArmy is this..rethink ur choice. As Asian men, several members of the army will ALWAYS shit on u bc ur asian, & bc we dont have a very large representation in the military.
@USArmy @USArmyEurope #AsianTwitter I've frequently heard the #USArmy talk about how they're the most professional organization in the world. But even in my civilian jobs, I've never had to deal w/ the kind of racism and harassment I've dealt with while in the army. Smh.
