A small thread about STREETS OF FIRE posters. Shocking, I know.

There are at least 4 variations of the US 1-Sheet for SoF. The least common is borderless, but lists the rating as R. There were a few of these printed before the film was resubmitted to the MPAA & given a PG. /1
The next most common is the standard, borderless key art with the final PG rating. /2
There are also some examples with a white border at the top and bottom ( but not the sides). 99% of these contain the PG rating, but I have seen at least a few examples with the R. /3
The movie was released in 1984, which is right when the studios were switching from folded posters to rolled ones. If you manage to find an R-rated version, it's likely folded. Almost all PG's were rolled, although examples of both do exist. /4
The release posters all use the standard key art. The advance (coming soon) posters came in 4 colors & 2 designs: single-color green and single color red. /5
The less common advances used this art of (the REAL real) Tom Cody. They came in orange and purple. Most of the advance posters were rolled, as they were silkscreened on heavy paper. I have seen folded examples, but they are rare. /6
The US Insert also used the main key art, but surrounded by a white border on all sides. These are maddeningly rare, as the 14X36 insert size was being phased out. If you have one, name me your price. /7
The coolest part: all these posters will fluoresce under a blacklight, making them more awesome than should be allowed by law. Sorry for the glare. Lesson complete; now go watch #StreetsOfFire again. /END
Adding onto this thread because I've been asked by a couple of people whether there was ever a US half-sheet (22X28) poster for SoF. Apparently some old nat'l screen service listings claim one was made, but I've never seen evidence of one, and I'm pretty sure I would have by now.
Then again, I've been trying to get my grubby paws on one of the insert posters for 30+ years & that hasn't happened, either, so anything is possible. The last one I know of was sold by Heritage in 2012 when I was apparently in a coma or something. It still keeps me awake nights.
I should probably add this one to the list, also. There is a whole other thread I plan to do on non-US SoF posters one day, but this particular one was mainly used as a B-teaser for the Aussie release. But for completists, a few did make their way to the US in standard sizes.
