Controversial opinion: Ursula is the real hero of the Little Mermaid. She was queen until Triton usurped the throne and banished her because he’s a mermeninist. He doesn’t think women should rule. That’s why he has so many daughters. He kept trying for a male heir.

All Ursula was trying to do was take back what was rightfully hers. Plus she was technically saving a naive teenage girl from leaving her family for some random adult man. Ariel had never even spoken to Eric and he only wanted her because she saved his life.

Triton’s daughters actually all have different mothers and are all only a few months apart. They just don’t know it because Triton secretly had each mother killed when she failed to give him a son because no way was he turning his kingdom over to some woman.

Triton was always jealous of Ursula because octopi are way smarter than fish and he was intimidated by intelligent women. He had serious tentacle envy. For all we know he’s still trying for a male heir to this day and he’s made his now adult daughters sign NDAs.

PS. Nobody reply to this about the Little Mermaid sequel as straight to video Disney sequels are not canon. Except King of Thieves bc Aladdin’s dad is hot.
